The parallel bars suspended from the ceiling are used for balance, control and leverage. The Barefoot Basics Certification program is (3 days) from 9:00 am. to 6:00 pm. You do not have to take advance classes to deliver a one hour luxurious deep tissue massage. This Barefoot Basics workshop is full of opportunities to give and receive the techniques demonstrated by your instructor. That means plenty of time to practice everything you are learning.

The outline for Barefoot Basics theory/lecture focuses on history of barefoot massage, cautions, contraindications, safe body mechanics for the therapist and receiving partner, proper draping, construction and design of bars in the treatment room, marketing the technique to your clients and foot hygiene. It is a full and rich program to say the least!

During your study with us, you will feel every single stroke from your instructor. You will have an opportunity to work on the instructor as well. On the final day, we provide a public clinic/practical for the ultimate in learning retention. Making sure you are safely up and operational before you leave the workshop has been our acclaimed reputation for years. We set the standards when it comes to barefoot bar work and we deliver the most organized and supervised hands-on seminar in the industry. Massage therapists come in all shapes and sizes. Our teaching methodologies are designed to work with each practitioner’s skill level, physical characteristics and learning style.

After training, your own self-study Certification process begins with documented practical sessions and testing based on the information provided in class. Helpful graduate services and a community of barefoot massage therapists are available for ongoing career support. To supplement and deepen your understanding of the technique, intermediate and advanced level classes, and refresher trainings are available for graduates. Instructional video available for an additional charge. All of this information will be available to you upon the completion of the Barefoot Basic course.

Anterior/Side-Lying®

1 day - 8 CE - $215
Pre-requisite: Barefoot Basics
Class times: 9:00-6:00 w/hour for lunch

The Anterior portion covers more in-depth knowledge of anterior muscles and its relationship to veins and superficial arteries which play an important roll in controlling depth of compression. Therapist will be taught a fabulous “spa finish” that will complete the amazing 60 or 90 minute posterior treatment. Receiving the anterior spa finish has been designed to incorporate a gentle eye cover accoutrement.

Specifically incorporated into the anterior neck routine, clients will receive the anterior massage in an ethical manner. We are unaware of any massage regulatory agency that endorses a heavy foot or full bodyweight over the chest near the heart or a standing practitioner straddled over a client's face. Make sure you study with a reputable educator when it comes to learning anterior barefoot work.

The Side-lying portion of this workshop is taught on the same day as anterior. It's like getting two classes for the price of one. Side-lying barefoot techniques are geared towards those clients who are seen on a regular basis and can work as a team with the therapist to locate the source of pain patterns and to treat them.

It can be used in conjunction with sports massage and therapists will learn myofascial foot skills to spread and elongate the hip flexors and explore trigger point work done with the feet.

Client assistance during the application is involved with multi-positioning to locate anterior, lateral, medial and sagittal muscles in relationship to surrounding structures and landmarks.
